Amir Antivirus
Amir Antivirus is a hybrid antivirus and cleaner specialized in malware that affects USB drives. It's effective against a very specific range of viruses, but it's a leader in its particular field. It should not be used as your only antivirus, but rather as a second option that can provide protection in the case of an attack through pen drives.
Scan, protect and clean your pendrive
There's a world of malware out there that spreads via the memory on a USB stick, such as the Direct Access Virus or the attrib virus, which changes the attributes of files and folder. Most of them are just a nuisance, but it's something some classic antiviruses overlook.
Amir Antivirus provides a memory and PC scanner that searches for USB viruses on your machine. The scanner itself fixes problems straight away. The cleaning function also eliminates temp files and deletes any remaining harmful files from the Recycle Bin.
The function called USB vaccine protects the memory stick from future infections. This is the only Amir Antivirus feature that requires Administrator permissions. As it needs no installation, Amir can be run by an Administrator directly from the folder where it's been decompressed. However, to update the program you need to download the compressed executable file again (Amir has no updates available online).
Automatic and mysterious functioning
Amir is available in several languages, which is a plus, but it has no documentation, and it's not clear how it works. It is also hard to guess what the antivirus will do when you click each button. The blind faith that you need to have in its operation is definitely something that discredits its usability.
One more tool for your arsenal
Amir Antivirus tackles security issues that other antiviruses tend to overlook, as is the case of opportunistic infections that are spread through USBs. It does a pretty good job considering it's free and that it can only operate thanks to users' donations.
