About GhostWire: Tokyo

A supernatural first-person action game

GhostWire: Tokyo is a premium action game by developer Tango Gameworks. Inspired by Japanese mythology and lore, players will take on the role of a character with special elemental abilities as they fight against a horde of supernatural enemies that have mysteriously overrun modern-day Tokyo.

As players embark on their journey, they must confront the unknown and ultimately save the city from its dark fate. The overall presentation of Dying Light 2 - Stay Human and GhostWire: Tokyo is similar in the sense that both are first-person action games that feature a high level of verticality in traversing and exploring their big open worlds.

Ghostbusters Tokyo Edition

GhostWire: Tokyo is set in the modern metropolis of Tokyo which has been overrun with the deadly supernatural entities caused by a dangerous occultist. Its citizens have also mysteriously vanished, with you as the sole survivor. You must now team up with a vengeful spectral being and arm yourself with powerful elemental abilities to seek the dark truth behind what happened to your city.

You’ll be exploring a hauntingly beautiful rendition of the city of Tokyo, from its back alleyways to traditional temples. You will even see some of its most iconic locations like the Tokyo Tower and Shibuya Crossing, just to name a few. Face a variety of enemies along the way, ranging from Slenderman-looking creepers to headless school girls, and even spirits and monsters straight out of Japanese legend and folklore.

There are various upgradable spells at your disposal that you can trigger using specific hand signs. You even get a couple that will aid you in performing various platforming challenges throughout the game. Plus, Bethesda has removed Denuvo DRM — an anti-piracy solution—from the game. Unfortunately, regardless of the rich side quest and grinding possibilities, the storyline is rather lackluster. The controls are quite clunky, as well.

If you’re a fan of games like Yakuza or Ghost of Tsushima that draw direct inspiration from Japanese culture and history, you should check out GhostWire: Tokyo. It skillfully blends the modern and the occult to create a unique and memorable experience. However, while it boasts stunning visuals and innovative gameplay mechanics, such as upgradeable spells and platforming challenges, it does have its drawbacks.
